Beavis Frond: Dolly Bug/Green Park Saturday

If the Paisley Revival of the early ‘90s had ever sprouted nuts, we might've seen more bands like this instead of dreck like the Dream Academy. Beavis Frond's druggy fondue includes three chords, buzzing Telecasters, hippie harmonies, and just a pinch of bad-tempered angst. Whoever the chick in the dolly bug is, she sure causes these blokes an extreme amount of anguish, and the result for us is very tasty. But the instrumental called “Green Park Saturday,” featuring what appears to be a Mellotron, is a serious breach of post-'67 psychedelic etiquette.
